Ryan Tubridy stays in local lodge

Late Late Show Presenter Ryan Tubridy enjoyed a pleasant stay at Wineport Lodge in Glasson last night.

The RTÉ presenter was in Athlone ahead of recording his radio show live from Center Parcs in Ballymahon this morning.

Speaking about Ryan's visit, Reservations Manager at the Wineport Lodge, Aileen Mimnagh said: "Ryan and his team stayed last night. It was a stop off before he hosted his radio programme this morning from Centre Parcs.

"He had a lovely dinner with the gang last night and was up bright and early for breakfast this morning. He really enjoyed his stay and was very charming and pleasant and friendly with all staff and other guests staying in Wineport Lodge."

Owner of Wineport Lodge, Ray Byrne, stated: "Ryan was en route to Center Parcs for a special broadcast of his daytime radio show when he took a day out to see what the area has to offer.

"He took in the town of Ballymahon, exploring Maura Higgins’ home town and naturally visiting the wonderful library to indulge his love of literature. Ryan and his team enjoyed lunch in Grogans pub in Glasson, and had a bracing stroll around Portlick Millennium Forest.

"As the sun was setting, Ryan arrived at Wineport Lodge to a warm greeting from General Manager Norma Wilson. Norma said ‘we were delighted to have Ryan dine and stay with us in Wineport Lodge. He came across as an extraordinarily nice person with a word for everyone in The Restaurant and was very accommodating when asked to pose for a couple of photos with the staff and the other guests.'

"After his tour of the area, Ryan spent the night in style in one of Wineport Lodge’s luxurious Lakeshore Suite."

Ryan shared a snap of a photo of himself along with late presenters Gay Byrne and Gerry Ryan which was gifted to him by the local lodge. Posting on his Instagram story Ryan said: "A lovely welcome gift at the hotel last night. Such a thoughtful gesture."

The Wineport Lodge also posted about the RTÉ presenter's visit on social media. They shared a photo of the table layout saying that they were delighted to host the group from RTÉ Radio 1.
