Gavin goes on loan from Charlton Athletic

Athlone native Dylan Gavin has joined National League South side Welling United on loan from Charlton Athletic until February 11.

Gavin made his debut for Welling in a 4-2 defeat to Dulwich Hamlet last Saturday, the striker going straight into the Wings' starting XI.

Speaking after the game against Dulwich Hamlet, Welling manager Warren Feeney said he was happy to have Gavin on board.

“I’m very pleased to get Dylan in with us,” Feeney told the club's website.

“He’s one we’ve looked at for a while. He’s got energy and pace and I thought in the early part of the game we used him well, but then we didn’t give him enough service which is the disappointing thing, but I think he’ll be a very good signing for us."

Gavin (19) has embarked on his second loan move of the season following a successful spell at Tonbridge Angels. He also had a loan spell with Billericay Town last season.

Welling is in the London Borough of Bexley, and the club competes in the National League South, the sixth tier of English football.

From Sarsfield Square in Athlone, Gavin made his first team debut for Charlton in November 2020 during the Addicks' Papa John's Trophy tie against Leyton Orient.

Charlton Athletic FC has wished the former St Francis and Athlone Town player the best of luck during his time with Welling, who play their home games at Park View Road.
