Two Moate CS games rearranged for next week

Two fixtures involving Moate Community School teams - which were postponed this week - have been rearranged for next week.

The Lidl Leinster Post-Primary Schools Junior (U-16) 'A' ladies football final between Moate CS and Loreto St Michael’s, Navan - scheduled to take place in Kinnegad yesterday (Wednesday) - has been rearranged for next Monday, January 23 at the same venue (throw-in 12.00).

The Leinster decider was postponed yesterday because of the weather conditions. See here for separate article on the Leinster ladies final including details of the Moate CS squad.

Meanwhile, the Leinster Schools SF ‘A’ quarter-final between the Moate CS senior boys’ team and St Peter’s College, Wexford also fell victim to the weather. It had been listed to take place today (Thursday) in Killeshin, Co. Laois.

The Moate CS v St Peter's game has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, January 25 at 12.30. At the time of writing, the venue for the refixture had yet to be confirmed but due to the distance between the two schools, it will be played at a neutral venue, with a Laois venue again looking likely.

Moate booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 5-16 to 2-6 win over Scoil Mhuire, Clane at Lakepoint Park last week (see report here).

Should the Westmeath side manage to overcome St Peter's, they will advance to play St Mel's College, Longford in the semi-finals. St Mel's recorded a comprehensive 2-19 to 2-5 victory over Offaly Schools (a combination team involving a number of schools) on Tuesday last.

The other semi-final will see defending champions Naas CBS take on either Coláiste Choilm, Tullamore or St Patrick's CS, Navan (conquerors of Marist College, Athlone in the last round).
