Dan Costello

Local included in Ireland U15 squad to play Australia

A local teenager has been named in Republic of Ireland Men’s U15s Head Coach Jason Donohue's 18-player squad for a friendly against Australia in Dublin tomorrow.

Dan Costello, who plays with St Patrick's Athletic, is son of Suzanne and John, and is a former player with St Joseph's FC in Monksland.

The young Boys in Green take on the Socceroos in their first game on Irish soil this season having travelled to Croatia and Poland previously, trips in which Costello also featured.

This time around, there are first-time Ireland call-ups for Joe Bradshaw (Liverpool), Oskar Schubo Keeley (Bohemians), Finn Sherlock (Shelbourne) and Gavin Mitchell (Waterford).

Ireland come into the game off the back of a 1-0 away win against Poland courtesy of a goal from Cork City’s Jaden Umeh, who also makes the squad.

It's the first time in three years Ireland have faced Australia at this age grade. Goals from Kevin Zefi and Alex Nolan secured a 2-0 win over tomorrow's opponents in Dublin.
