Willow Park reach quarter finals of FAI Intermediate Cup

Bangor Celtic 1, Willow Park FC 2

Willow Park have reached the quarter finals of the FAI Intermediate Cup with a dramatic win away to fellow Leinster Senior League side Bangor Celtic today.

Willow play in the second flight of the league, one division below top-flight Bangor, but made light of the league difference with a sensational victory.

One down to a goal from the home side after the 70th minute mark, the introduction of substitutes Mark Sherlock and Callum Lynch changed the complexion of the tie in the visitors' favour.

Sherlock was involved in both goals, setting up Scott Delaney for an equaliser with just six or seven minutes left in normal time.

Then Lynch popped up in the 90th minute to snatch victory after good work from Ryan Carberry and Sherlock.

Willow Park were already guaranteed a spot in the 2023 FAI Senior Cup having reached the last 16, but now the Athlone side will be setting their sights on an Intermediate Cup quarter final tie.
