Date announced for 2023 Athlone Agri Show

A date has been announced for the 2023 Athlone Agri Show, to held on Michael Donoghue's farm in Garnafailagh.

This year's event will take place on Sunday, June 18th, and the organisers are hopeful that the cattle classes will make a return this summer.

It comes after a large crowd attended the recent AGM of Athlone Agri Show in the Bounty last week. Chairman John Dolan said the return of the show in 2022 to a new site had been a tremendous success. It was the first show since 2019, and had a great new site in Michael Donoghue’s farm, a dry warm day and also a brilliant committee.

Secretary Padraig Higgins gave his report on the year's activities and meetings and it was followed by John McCann with the treasurer’s report.

The election of officers was chaired by David Fenton and was as follows: Chairman John Dolan, Vice Chairman PJ Coghill, Secretary Padraig Higgins, Treasurers John McCann and Michael Donoghue, Child Protection Martin Monaghan. The various section leaders were also selected - Health and Safety is John Henson.

Chairman John Dolan thanked the meeting for re-electing the outgoing officers and said that the show will endeavour to improve on last year with the inclusion of cattle classes again.

This year's Athlone Agri Show will take place on Sunday, June 18th on Michael Donoghue's farm in Garnafailagh, Athlone, a stone's throw from the town.
