Athlone photographer launches new exhibition

‘Whatever I fancy’ is a new exhibition in Golden Island Shopping Centre by Ken Duke, who plays out his love for travel both home and abroad and his deep seated appreciation of nature and the world around us.

A native of Athlone, Ken served for more than 43 years with the Irish Defence Forces and is a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He has a great interest in arts and culture and has always encouraged and supported his own family members in their artistic pursuits.

Through photography Ken has learned so much and has made many new friends. He has travelled the length and breadth of what he describes as "our magnificent country" and his portfolio contains images from every county in Ireland. He has also travelled extensively abroad. When travelling he states that the first thing on his packing list is always his camera.

As a photographer Ken loves to share his knowledge of photography, and also of locations with other photographers. He sees Midlands Photography Club as a great way to develop your interest in photography.

The exhibition will continue in the exhibition space in Golden Island Shopping Centre until end of March.
