Mainly dry day with some sunny spells

Weather update from Met Éireann

Remaining largely dry and settled through the rest of the working week with high pressure continuing to dominate our weather. That's the latest weather outlook from Met Éireann.

A cloudy start across much of the country with some patchy light rain for parts of the south and east. Elsewhere it will stay mainly dry with some sunny spells developing too. Any lingering rain will clear away during the afternoon but scattered cloud will remain through to this evening. Top temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with a light to moderate easterly breeze.

A mostly cloudy night with some patchy light rain developing across southern Leinster and Munster but elsewhere it should stay mainly dry. Light to moderate easterly breezes will gradually weaken with temperatures overnight dropping down to 1 to 4 degrees. A touch of frost is possible in the northwest under any clear breaks in the cloud too.

A good deal of scattered cloud with some light patchy rain extending from the east during Thursday morning. By afternoon any lingering rain will begin clear as some sunny spells develop. Winds will generally stay light and variable with top temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.

A mostly cloudy evening Thursday but there will be some clear breaks at times too. Any lingering patchy light rain will clear away overnight in a light easterly breeze. Lowest tempertures of -1 to 2 degrees so a touch of frost is possible.

Another cloudy start on Friday but some sunny spells will begin to develop especially in the north. A few patches of light rain or drizzle for southern areas in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze. Highs of 7 to 9 degrees.

It will stay mainly dry and cloudy overnight on Friday especially in the south of the country. Further north more clearer spells will develop with a light to moderate easterly breeze. It will be cold overnight in the north with temperatures falling below freezing at -2 degrees but further south it should stay a touch milder at 0 to 2 degrees, so some frosty patches are possible.

Saturday should start off mainly fine and dry with good early sunny spells but later in the morning cloud will push in from the south. So, it will be a cloudy afternoon but should stay mainly dry apart from a few patches of drizzle in the far southwest. Highs of 7 to 9 degrees in a light southerly breeze.

Cloudy for the evening on Saturday but staying mainly dry in the southerly breeze. Overnight lows will fall to around 4 or 5 degrees in the south where there's greater cloud cover but a little cooler further north with 1 to 3 degrees.

A cloudy day throughout on Sunday with a light southerly breeze. Later in the day the winds will strengthen a little ahead of a band of rain moving in from the southwest. Highs of 7 to 9 degrees.
