Workshop to be held in Monksland for locals to contribute to Local Economic and Community Plan

As part of the Roscommon Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) which is currently being prepared, a workshop will take place in Monksland for locals to give their feedback on the planning process.

The workshop will be held in the Athlone Springs Hotel on Thursday, March 23 at 7pm.

The completed document will set out, for a six-year period, the objectives and actions needed to promote and support the economic development and the local and community development in County Roscommon.

LECPs are the main tool for delivering actions from national and regional strategies at the local level. It is essential that the LECP reflects the needs and ambitions of all communities in Roscommon.

The organisers want to know what communities think are the main issues facing Roscommon in the future and what they think should be done. They are also seeking feedback on what challenges the various communities are facing and what their vision for the county would look like.

Anyone wishing to provide feedback can make a submission to the consultation portal here or email roscommon@hubplanning.ie. The closing date for receipt of submissions or observations is Friday, April 7.

The drop-in interactive workshop will provide a variety of ways for people to share their experience and priorities for Roscommon. The workshops begin next Tuesday, March 21 at 6pm in Roscommon County Library, on Abbey Street in Roscommon town. All other workshops begin at 7pm.

Further workshops will take place on Wednesday March 22 in the Demesne Castlerea and on Tuesday, March 28 in the Ballaghaderreen CDP.

On Wednesday, March 29 there will be a session in King House in Boyle. The final workshop will take place on Thursday, March 30 in the Percy French Hotel in Strokestown.

There are several other ways for local people to be part of the LECP planning process. Follow #RoscommonLECP on social media or @RoscommonLECP. Events are open to everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Roscommon, and the organisers look forward to meeting participants.
