Athlone bus services to be diverted during Sunday's St Patrick's parade

Bus Éireann has announced that there will be changes to its local bus routes in Athlone this Sunday afternoon as a result of the St Patrick's parade taking place in the town.

The parade gets underway at 2pm on Sunday, March 19, and the road diversions associated with it will lead to changes on the A1 and A2 town bus routes between 1.15pm and 3.45pm.

On the A1 route, services from Bealnamulla to the Kilmartin N6 Centre will operate from Halls Bridge to Grace Park Junction. Mitchell's Terrace, Battery Heights, the town centre, the bus and train station and the Golden Island Shopping Centre will not be served during the parade, Bus Éireann said.

Services from the Kilmartin N6 Centre to Bealnamulla will operate from Grace Park Junction to Evergreen Avenue. Golden Island Shopping Centre, the bus and train station, the town centre and Battery Heights will not be served during the parade.

On the A2 route, services from Bealnamulla to the Kilmartin N6 Centre will operate from Hall's Bridge to the Athlone Regional Sports Centre. The town centre, Bus/Rail Station and Golden Island Shopping Centre will not be served by the A2 buses during the parade.

Services from Kilmartin Centre to Bealnamulla will operate from the Regional Sports Centre to Evergreen Avenue, and, again, the Golden Island Shopping Centre, Bus and Rail station, and town centre will not be served during the parade.

A Bus Éireann spokesperson advised customers to check its website, www.buseireann.ie, and the TFI Live App for real-time information.
