Millmore Gaels celebrate double underage success

A presentation of medals for 2021 and 2022 was held for the Millmore Gaels Club in Milltown GAA Community Centre recently. Millmore Gaels is an amalgamation of Milltown and Ballymore at underage level.

Westmeath senior football manager, Dessie Dolan was one of the guests of honour, joined by players such as James Dolan, Conor Dillon and Ronan Wallace.

In 2021, the Millmore Gaels under 17 side were county champions, while in 2022 the club repeated that feat, along with victory for the under 13 side.

Ailish Reilly, Chairperson of Millmore Gaels, paid tribute to all players and to everyone associated with the club.

“I want to congratulate all the players and to thank the mentors and parents for their great support. Thanks to Dessie, James, Conor and Ronan who took time out of their very busy schedule to come to Milltown and present the medals,” she said.

“Without all these players and mentors, who volunteer their time, we would not actually have a club.”

She acknowledged the great support of parents, who took young players to training and games during the year, and thanked them for providing refreshments for Saturday’s celebration. She thanked Tom Lynn for providing Milltown GAA hall for the evening and acknowledged Paul Heduan and Damien Byrne who were invaluable help, and all others who assisted.

She thanked former chairperson Dale Greenwood for his work and Damien Scally, former treasurer of Millmore Gaels. She is joined by Anna McHugh and Carmel Kiernan on the committee this year and they are looking forward to a busy and hopefully, a very successful season.
