Local cake decorator bakes cake for Snoop Dogg

Tanya Ross, the owner of multi-award winning cake decoration company, Novel-T Cakes, in Parkwood, in Tubber, on the Offaly/Westmeath border, was lucky enough to bake cakes for rapper Snoop Dogg following his concert in Dublin last night (Sunday).

Tanya said the catering company responsible for VIPs at the 3Arena contacted her and asked her to make two cakes for the American rap artist.

The cake Tanya Ross made for American rapper Snoop Dog.

"They wanted me to make a cake replica of Death Row Records. Their logo is a guy in an electric chair," Tanya explained.

Snoop Dogg became the owner of the American record label last year. The label became a sensation by releasing multi-platinum hip-hop albums by Dr. Dre, 2Pac and Snoop Dogg himself. Tanya said Snoop Dogg also had a gold necklace of the logo made.

The cake was vanilla with buttercream covered in sugar paste with sugar diamonds painted in gold fruit colouring and was made in just two days. Tanya also made a second smaller cake.

The South-African born mother-of-three, who moved to Tubber over 20 years ago, added that she didn't get to meet Snoop Dogg, unfortunately.

Tanya takes the same approach to all customers whether they are a famous face or not: "All customers are VIP."

The local cake decorator listed some well-known figures she has previously made cakes for the likes of Bob Geldof, Shane McGowan, John Sheehan and Conor McGregor, along with cakes for the Late Late Show and the Ray D'Arcy Show.

Tanya concluded by saying, "It's been a good few weeks", as she won two gold medals in the sculpture centrepiece and cake top ornament categories in the Irish Sugar Craft Show recently.

Tanya has won awards all over the world, and she was named among the Top 10 cake artists across all of Ireland and the UK in 2020 for her elaborate cakes.

Novel-T Cakes can be contacted on their Facebook page, which also features an breathtaking array of pictures of Tanya’s cakes, and she advises customers to “give as much notice as possible” to her when ordering a special occasion cake.
