Well-known rural Midlands pub up for sale at €350,000

A landmark pub in Doon, Ballinahown, is being sold as a going concern with its price listed as €350,000.

Martin's pub in the Offaly village, close to the border with Westmeath, is being offered for sale by private treaty through Kearney Auctioneers.

The pub has been trading for more than a century and was owned by various generations of the Martin family from 1912 until 2005, when it was sold at auction to a group of local investors.

The listing for the property states that this is "a fabulous opportunity to acquire this iconic, heart of the Midlands, lounge bar with living accommodation overhead.

"The 300 sq m high-profile property is strategically located at Doon crossroads on the main Athlone-Limerick road. The crossroads also form a gateway, from the nearby M6 Motorway, to the eminent 6th Century Monastic site of Clonmacnoise."

It adds that "Martins has a warm welcome and a great pint, it enjoys a huge catchment area, being the only licensed premises within an 8km radius, and it's the go-to place for parties, fundraisers and after-match celebrations."
