Local woman wins Make Up Artist of the Year title

With wedding season well underway, a local woman who was recently named Make Up Artist of the Year at the Weddings Online Awards 2023, looks set for a busy summer.

Multi award-winning Audrey O'Connor from Essence of Beauty in Ballinasloe has over ten years experience in the bridal industry, and her work has appeared in V.I.P and Confetti magazines in the past.

From Togher, Taughmaconnell, she was also the main make up artist for the recent 'Confetti Live' wedding event in the K Club and even worked with TV presenter Gok Wan some years ago at fashion events.

“Audrey is known for her professionalism, while maintaining a friendly and relaxed nature making her the perfect addition to any brides wedding preparations,” the judges said at the Weddings Online Awards 2023 ceremony in Mullingar.

Audrey trained with leading make up artists like Paula Callan, James Molloy, Derrick Carberry, and more recently woth Mario Dedivanovic, who is most famous for his work with reality star Kim Kardashian.

She was not the only local winner on the night, The Paper Lane won Stationery Designer of the Year for their design of bespoke wedding invites, booklets, seating plans, cards, guestbooks etc. The Athlone business was founded by Oona Herraghty.
