Caulry's musical mock wedding a rocking success!

To get 250 people to turn up to a wedding where no one knew who the bride and groom were was some achievement, but that’s exactly what Caulry GAA managed to do over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The event, held in the newly refurbished Mount Temple Hall, was billed as an evening of 'Mystery, Romance, Food and Song' and included a two-course meal with everything sponsored, cooked and served by a wonderful team of local volunteers.

The sold-out occasion was all part of Caulry GAA's 'Lord of the Mount' fundraising campaign to raise money for a new complex including dressing rooms and a gym.

“Having looked at different mock weddings online, we felt, with the help of local talent, that we could raise the bar and I think we managed to do that. A huge thanks is due to everyone involved especially the mystery couple. Even close family attending the event didn’t know until they walked up the aisle," event organiser Tom Daly said.

The groom was later revealed as Cathal Geoghegan, and the bride was Caulry’s own PRO Samantha Carroll.

After the ceremony and food the crowd moved to the marquee at Egan's for the first dance and a great night of entertainment!

“A special word of thanks to our own Marty Morrissey, Mr John G Buckley who played a blinder as MC for the evening,” Tom added.

The 'Lord of the Mount' fundraising campaign concludes over the June Bank Holiday weekend when the lucky winner and the total amount of money raised will be revealed.
