Ardnagrath NS girls win FAI Schools Leinster final

Pupils from Ardnagrath NS in Walderstown, Athlone, starred at the FAI Primary School 5s Leinster finals yesterday (Wednesday), where they won the girls' ‘A’ Cup final.

The local girls defeated Clongeen NS of Wexford in the provincial decider, which was played at the MDL Grounds in Navan.

They had reached this stage by winning the North Leinster finals which had been played at the same venue a week earlier.

In a social media post, the FAI Westmeath account congratulated the team, saying they would now be heading to the national finals in the Aviva Stadium.

"There must be something in the water over in Temple Villa FC!" the post added.

Another Westmeath school, Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn in Mullingar, was the runner-up in the boys' ‘B’ Cup final yesterday, losing out to Mucklagh NS from Offaly.
