Westmeath and Roscommon games set for pay-per-view GAAGO platform

Westmeath and Roscommon's senior footballers will begin their group stage campaigns in the All Ireland championship this weekend, with both of their games to be streamed exclusively on the pay-per-view GAAGO platform.

Dessie Dolan's Westmeath travel to the Athletic Grounds to take on Armagh on Saturday (throw-in 4.45pm), while Davy Burke's Roscommon will be heading to Croke Park to face Dublin on Sunday (4pm).

There will be no live television coverage of the two games, but they will both be available for purchase on the GAAGO website. Individual games on the platform can be purchased for €12, or three games can be purchased for €24. A GAAGO 'season pass' costs €79.

The decision to make 38 of this summer's championship games available exclusively on GAAGO has proven contentious, with the matter being raised for debate in the Dáil recently.

Earlier this month, Tánaiste Micheál Martin said that he believed GAA championship games should be shown on free-to-air television, and that GAAGO's pay-per-view coverage should be reviewed.

Hurling will be the focus of RTÉ's live championship coverage this weekend.

On Saturday, RTÉ 2 will be showing the Joe McDonagh Cup final between Carlow and Offaly (4.45pm), and on Sunday the games between Dublin and Galway (2pm) and Limerick and Cork (4pm) will be televised.
