Athlone and Moate Covid vaccination clinics planned in days ahead

The HSE said it wants to reiterate that Covid "isn't gone away," and that it plans to hold vaccination clinics in Athlone and Moate in the coming days.

A Spring Covid-19 booster vaccine programme is currently underway, with boosters recommended for "people aged 70 years and older, residents of long-term care facilities for older adults, and people aged 5 years and older with a weak immune system".

A vaccination clinic will be held in Clonbrusk Primary Care Centre, Athlone, tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 4pm.

Clinics will also take place at the Westmeath Vaccination Centre on Church Street in Moate (Eircode: N37 KW60) this coming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (May 29 to 31).

These will be held from 9.30am to 5pm on Monday and Tuesday, and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday.

The HSE encouraged those eligible for vaccination boosters to "protect yourself and the people you care for," adding, "there is evidence that booster doses may reduce infection rates".

Those attending the clinics can either walk in on the day or book an appointment through this link.

People attending a clinic are advised to wear a face covering.

"You will need your photo ID, Personal Public Service (PPS) number, Eircode, mobile phone number and email address when you attend," the HSE added.
