Charity pop-up shop to take place in Athlone next month

A pop-up occasion wear shop will be held in Athlone next month in aid of the Ken Smollen Food Appeal.

The pop-up will take place on Saturday, June 10 in the Battery Heights Complex, Athlone from 12pm until 5pm. It will sell communion dresses and suits, mother of the bride oufits and various occasion wear.

Athlone native and organiser Michelle Lynch originally held a similar event previously which raised €600 for Infinity

Friends and Ruby's Journey. Michelle said she decided to set up the pop-up because she had a communion suit hanging in her wardrobe and asked people if they thought the pop-up would be a good idea and they agreed.

Michelle added that she hopes to help people out who are struggling to find items at a bargain price.

The organiser is also seeking donations of clothing, hadbags, accessories and shoes for the pop-up.

Michelle decided to fundraise for the Ken Smollen Food Appeal as she said “Ken Smollen does so much for underprivileged families in the Midlands. Ken asks people for donations so I thought it would be an ideal charity to help out this time.
