Sam Maguire Cup makes appearance at Athlone Garda football blitz

Athlone Gardai, together with Westmeath LGFA and Westmeath GAA, held their annual Athlone Garda Primary Schools Football Blitz on Friday, June 9 last.

Students from across the Athlone Garda District attended what was a very enjoyable and fun filled sporting and community engagement occasion, with Sam Maguire even making an appearance!

"Special thanks to Athlone GAA for the generous use of their facilities and to the Garda Air Support Unit, Westmeath Roads Policing Unit, Garda Water Unit and Garda Mounted Unit for their attendance and displays to the pupils," a post on the Garda Síochána Westmeath Facebook page said in recent days.

It also thanked the TY students from all the local secondary school who officiated at the games.
