Pre-budget breakfast event attracts large attendance

Athlone Chamber of Commerce hosted a Pre-Budget Business Breakfast on Wednesday last in the Athlone Springs Hotel, with a panel of experts including Minister for Finance Michael McGrath. The event was moderated by Business Editor for the Business Post, Lorcan Allen and was sponsored by RBK Chartered Accountants and TUS Midlands Midwest. This exclusive event brought together influential voices from the business and financial sectors to discuss crucial topics in anticipation of the Government’s publication of the Summer Economic Statement.

The panel of experts included Minister for Finance Michael McGrath, Dr Alison Sheridan TUS, Jackie Masterson RBK Chartered Accountants and John Finn, Economist of Treasury Solutions. President of Athlone Chamber Alan Shaw welcomed over 100 members at the event, while over 120 viewed the event on-line. Attendees were provided with invaluable insights and an enhanced understanding of the imminent budgetary decisions that will shape the economic landscape of the region.

Minister for Finance Michael McGrath spoke about the government's fiscal strategy and their vision for fostering economic growth and stability. He discussed the current economic backdrop to budget 2024 and the challenges facing Government as well as the unprecedented levels of corporation tax receipts that continue to flow into the Governments coffers.

After the event, Minister McGrath stated: “This was an excellent opportunity to hear from employers – large and small – in the midlands ahead of key budgetary decisions that I and the Government will make over the coming weeks.”
