Lengthy train delays on Monday night after Tullamore incident

Train services using the Dublin to Galway railway line were delayed by up to two hours last night (Monday), following an incident near Tullamore railway station.

Irish Rail spokesperson Barry Kenny said the 19:35 train from Dublin Heuston to Galway struck and injured a person on the railway line near Tullamore station yesterday evening.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the person was brought to hospital.

"The train proceeded once emergency services had completed their work on site, with a delay of 115 minutes, and with some consequent delays to other services last evening," said Mr Kenny.

"We apologise to customers affected, and thank them for their patience and understanding during this distressing incident."

Train services were operating as normal this morning (Tuesday).
