Online talk with Luan Gallery artist this Thursday

Mark Clare, one of the artists featured in the exhibition currently on display at Athlone's Luan Gallery, will be taking part in an online talk about his work this week.

The event, at 1pm on Thursday, July 27, is being hosted by the gallery to coincide with its current exhibition, Athrú, an Invocation.

The exhibition opened on July 7, and will remain on display until September 3. It presents work by Mark Clare, Teresa Dillon, and Rosie O’Reilly which responds to the ways biosystems, animal and plant lives have been affected by climate change across Ireland and beyond.

Mark’s research-led practice employs a variety of media including sculpture, video, animation, sound, performance, and photography.

In his recent work, he examines to what extent human activities have impacted on the earth's ecosystems.

He is interested in the potential of science, philosophy and aesthetics to explore issues such as climate change and global policies, to produce work that keeps our attention focused on what's going on in our environment.

His online 'Artist's Talk' on Thursday stars at 1pm on Zoom. For more information, contact Luan Gallery on 090 6442154, or email: info@luangallery.ie

The outreach programme for the Athrú, An Invocation exhibition is supported by Creative Ireland and Westmeath County Council.
