The Wrafter Family Band.

Big support gig for local band

Kilbeggan's musical maestros The Wrafter Family Band are all set to share a bill with The Whistlin' Donkeys at The Well in Moate on August 20th.

That Sunday date will see the famous Midlands venue transformed into a mecca for ballad, folk, trad and Irish music fans, with The Porter Bellys completing the trio of acts that will keep the music flowing from early afternoon until well into the August night.

The Whistlin' Donkeys are one of the fastest rising bands in the country right now, with a career path whose upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. For the Wrafter Family Band, sharing a stage with the Tyrone six-piece is yet another mile-marker of note in their own musical adventure, and follows on from recent appearances alongside The Tumbling Paddies at Hazel Fest in Rahugh (where Peter, Thomas, and Conor performed as just The Wrafters), and as special guests of renowned promoter and songwriter Billy Morrissey at his Stars of Irish Country Concert in Tullamore.

"Every chance we get to play together is something we get excited about, "remarked Peter Wrafter, "and this show at The Well - given that it's so close to home for us, and that it's as part of a day-long event of the music we love - is certainly no different. It will be all five of us on the day, with myself and the two lads - Thomas and Conor - being joined by their sister Aimee and their mam, Noreen. So what man, father or musician couldn't be looking forward to sharing a stage with his entire family on an occasion like that? We're very excited, and we can't wait for the day to get here."

The Wrafter Family Band, who released their debut EP, The First Verse, in 2019, have been back in the studio in recent weeks, with work well underway on a brand new single. Tickets for the August 20 show at The Well in Moate are on sale now from the www.willwego.com website.
