New non-stop bus route between Athlone and Dublin to start next month

Citylink has announced it's launching a new bus route from Mayo to Dublin, which will offer a non-stop service between Athlone and Dublin city and airport.

The new route commences on Monday, September 25, and will be open for bookings from the beginning of September.

A statement from the transport provider said the route would be "the first in 20 years to give passengers an affordable service from Mayo to Dublin Airport."

It will originate in Castlebar and will have stops in Claremorris, Tuam, Athlone (TUS), Dublin city and Dublin airport.

The timetable for the route is currently being finalised but Citylink said it would include six return journeys per day, seven days a week.

"This new route allows us to provide a reliable transport solution to more communities," said Citylink's Regional General Manager, Frances Cahill.

"Our company is committed to making strategic and significant investments across the Citylink network to ensure stronger levels of connectivity are achieved, as well as ensuring our passengers are getting the best possible value."

Pre-booking of services on the new route will open on the Citylink website from Friday, September 1, and there will be a limited introductory offer of €5 fares each way (terms and conditions apply).
