Lauren always dreamt of working in make up and content creation

It was always Lauren Byrne's dream to work in the beauty business and when she got the opportunity to work for leading makeup brand Inglot, she was “over the moon.”

The Athlone influencer and makeup artist has always loved makeup and previously worked for Inglot in Athlone at a pop-up shop in Golden Island Shopping Centre and more recently as a retail makeup artist in Brown Thomas Galway for Charlotte Tilbury.

Lauren has an impressive following on Instagram of over 16,000 followers.

Lauren said: I’ve always loved makeup growing up and I used to always watch YouTube videos to try and train myself different tips and tricks. In the last three to four years I decided I would love to take it up as a part of my career as I love all things beauty and am also qualified in eyebrow waxing, threading AND tinting along with lash lifts. I run my only little beauty room from home and I love it.”

Lauren decided to undertake a makeup course in Galway two years ago and began taking appointments from there which she said gave her the opportunity to work for makeup brands that she has always dreamt of working for.

The young makeup guru said she had been using Inglot products for a number of years before working for them. “I love a variety of makeup brands, but I think at the moment my favourites are Nars, Inglot, Charlotte Tilbury, Sosu Cosmetics. Sculpted by Aimee is also a makeup brand I’ve always loved and I recently received a PR package from them so it was a dream. It’s things like that that really make you feel what you're doing is working.”

The former Our Lady's Bower student also explained how she entered the content creation and influencer sphere. Lauren said: “It was when Covid hit that I decided to bite the bullet and start posting outfits and beauty bits I loved and it kind of took off from there. I love posting my day to day outfits and style, the makeup/beauty products that I use, favourite restaurants or hotels I might visit things like that. It has always been a dream of mine to make it into a career so that’s the aim.”

Lauren's main goal is to grow her Instagram page further and “continue to create unique and interesting content and hopefully build a career out of it that would be a dream. It’s something I’m very passionate about and get great satisfaction from."

She also has her own beauty salon which she runs from her home in Athlone, (beautybylauren27x), and which she hopes to expand further. "So between that and blogging I am kept busy.”

Lauren likes to be as consistent as she can with her content and aims to post daily on Instagram. She currently has two Instagram pages; her personal account @Laurenbyrnee.x and her beauty business account @beautybylauren27x

“Being a fashion and beauty influencer has always been a huge interest of mine so I don’t consider spending time doing it every week as a chore and I love the positive feedback I get from my followers, it makes it all worth while.”

Speaking about her love of fashion, Lauren said: “I really do wear a variety of clothing brands. My followers know how much in particular I love Zara, I am never out of the shop! Pretty Little Thing for years growing up has always been my favourite brand and I remember always looking at the influencers that got parcels from them and just said to myself one day I will get a package sent to me from Pretty Little Thing. Then it just happened I got an email one day to work with them and also got invited to their Christmas party last year, it was all a dream come true.”

In terms of what influencer content she enjoys watching, Lauren is a fan of former Love Island contestant Molly Mae Hague and Dublin influencer and podcaster Charleen Murphy.

“I definitely love watching Molly Mae. I love her style and seeing her different outfits every day, I feel like I like the same kind of clothes that she wears. I would say for beauty products Charleen Murphy is someone I’ve always watched because I feel like nearly every product she shares I nearly always buy and love it.”

Lauren believes that skin care is the starting point of any makeup application. She explained: “The better your skin is the better the end result. Thankfully, clients seem to look after their skin far better now than in the past. I personally use Dermalogica skin care and find it works best for my skin.”

After attending Our Lady’s Bower Lauren completed a makeup course in Galway before studying a brow and lash course at Sharon Leavy Beauty Academy in Portlaoise.

Lauren is the daughter of Athlonians Daragh Byrne and Nuala Begley.
