Athlone Pop Up Gaeltacht celebrates Óiche Chultúir 2023

St Kieran’s Community Centre is the place to be this coming Friday, as Athlone Pop-Up Gaeltacht host an evening of traditional music and culture.

Óiche Chultúir is the Irish language element of the annual culture night which takes place on September 22 around the country.

Athlone Pop-Up Gaeltacht, with funding provided by An tOireachtas, is set to provide a great evening's entertainment for all ages from 7.30pm in St Kierans Community Centre,

Language activist and secretary of the local Conradh na Gaeilge branch Mickey Moran said: “This is set to be a fantastic event open to all ages. We have local set dancing legend Tom Shine running a céilí workshop for the first hour, and then we will have music from local trad musicians Ná Bádóirí.”

“The event will be entirely in the Irish language, and it's a great chance for people young and old, whatever their background to join us in this celebration of our native language, music and dance,” Mickey added.

Refreshments will be available on the night, and the event is completely free thanks to the kind sponsorship of the event by An-tOireachtas.
