Local football star Heather Payne has been praised by Everton for her "sensational" display in the club's Merseyside derby win against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.

Heather signed for Everton on a two-year contract in August, and on Sunday she helped her club secure a morale-boosting first win of the season in front of a crowd of 23,000 away to Liverpool.

The 23-year-old Irish international is from the Woodmount area of South Roscommon/Ballinasloe, and is a past-pupil of Creagh NS and Ard Scoil Mhuire, Ballinasloe.

On social media, Everton said Heather was "getting better with every game" and put together this three-minute package showing her immense contribution both defensively and in attack during last weekend's game at Anfield:
