Tenerife route reopens at Ireland West Airport
Ireland West Airport in Knock yesterday (Thursday) welcomed passengers departing on its new weekly service to Tenerife with Ryanair.
The airport said the Tenerife service would provide a major boost for holidaymakers across the West, Northwest and Midlands regions as weekly flights to the popular sun destination are restored for the first time since January 2020.
Tenerife has long been one of the most popular sun destinations from Ireland West Airport and the new weekly service will operate through the winter season and all year round in 2024.
The reintroduction of the Tenerife service is part of Ryanair’s winter schedule from the airport with 10 routes, including two new winter sun destinations – Lanzarote and Tenerife.
Commenting on the new Tenerife service, Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Jade Kirwan said: "Ryanair is delighted to see the first flight of our new winter route from Ireland West Airport to Tenerife South take off.
"Tenerife is the perfect winter escape providing visitors with guaranteed sun during these dreary winter months.
"This winter Ryanair will operate 10 routes to/from Ireland West Airport including this new Tenerife route as well as the extension of our popular summer route to Lanzarote.
"Additional city break destinations, such as Edinburgh, Liverpool, and London provide an unbeatable selection of destinations for our West and North-West customers to choose from this winter."
Welcoming the news, Joe Gilmore, Managing Director, Ireland West Airport commented: "We are delighted to see Tenerife back on our departures screens today for the first time since early 2020.
"Tenerife and Lanzarote have been our most requested services over the last couple of years and we are finally delighted to be able to welcome both destinations back for the winter season."
Flights to Tenerife and Lanzarote from Ireland West Airport will operate every Thursday throughout the winter season.
