North Midlands Farm Forestry Group to hold info evening

The North Midlands Farm Forestry Group, a voluntary organisation of farm forest owners based in Westmeath and Longford, hold an information evening and AGM in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Wednesday November 29 at 7.30pm.

The evening will include discussions on Group Forest Certification and on knowledge transfer groups and other engagement events, and an overview of the Native Tree Area Scheme.

Forest owners and interested landowners are welcome to attend. The group also encourage members to bring the next generation of family members to the meeting, to see how belonging to a forest owner group can help to increase their knowledge of forestry in an informal environment.

The North Midlands Farm Forestry Group (formerly Westmeath Farm Forestry Group) focus on engaging and educating owners in forest management, various silvicultural practices, timber value and marketing, health and safety in the forest, forest biodiversity and issues relating to forestry in Ireland.

Priorities of the group are peer-to-peer learning, network building and social engagement.

Activities include regular forest visits, training courses, information evenings and demonstrations of forestry operations.

The group have several RDS forestry award winners and Farming for Nature Ambassadors among their membership.
