Proceeds from local memorial event to boost two worthy charities

The organisers of the Ray Doyle Memorial scramble competition have expressed their thanks to all who participated in and supported the competition which was held at Custume Pitch & Putt Club in October.

The proceeds from the Ray Doyle Memorial Cup will go towards the South Westmeath Hospice and the Galway Hospice, with each charity receiving a cheque for €600.

This was the fifth year that this memorial event has taken place. Ray was a very accomplished and popular player and this was honoured on the day by the number of teams that competed. Ray's presence will always be felt on the course, a legend to all his colleagues.

Ray's wife Bernie and the Doyle family would like to thank Custume Pitch & Putt Club for holding this event in memory of Ray.

A special mention to Anthony Browne, Custume Pitch & Putt Club, committee members, Club Secretary Nathan Malone, club groundsmen, John Joyce, Pat Malone and Martin Kenny and catering committee on the day, Mary Sherrin, Susan Rodgers and Mary McKeena.
