Civic honour for Athlone Tidy Towns

An address of recognition is to be bestowed on Athlone Tidy Towns for their general volunteering and on attaining National Tidy Towns gold medal success three years in a row.

Proposing this honour at the monthly meeting of Westmeath County Council on Monday, Fianna Fáil Cllr Aengus O’Rourke said this was an honour that was “long overdue”.

He spoke of the huge achievement of winning gold medals three years in a row, 2021, ’22 and ’23, given that Athlone was in the large town category. He said this was also recognition of the work put in by volunteers, residents’ associations and the council staff in the town.

“Well done Athlone”, concurred the Cathaoirleach, Cllr Liam McDaniel.
