French comedy gem for Tuar Ard film night

A French comedy gem 'Driving Madeleine' will be screened this Tuesday (February 6), as part of Tuar Ard's February Film Night in Moate.

It centres around Paris taxi-driver Charles who accepts an early morning fare. His client turns out to be 92-year-old Madeleine, who is making the final journey to the care home where her doctors and family have decided she must live.

Along the way Madeleine asks Charles to visit places in Paris that hold memories for her. Gradually the two learn about each other’s lives.

The film by Christian Carion features Line Renaud and Danny Boon got many five star reviews when it was released, with particular praise for its two leads and the third unofficial one - the city of Paris.

The screening is at 8pm and admission is just €5.
