Moate design showcased at Junk Kouture partnership launch

A sustainable fashion design by Moate CS students took pride of place this week as the organisation renewed its partnership with EUROSPAR.

'Lighting the Way’ - made by Sean Murray Gaffey with plastic tea light candle holders and onion bags and modelled by Cliodhna Buckley from Moate Community School was one of two designs at a special event in Dunboyne recently where Junk Kouture announced it is teaming up with supermarket group EUROSPAR for a second year! Building on the partnership established in 2023, EUROSPAR is on board as a sponsor of Junk Kouture 2024, kicking off with the regional finals in the Helix on March 4 and 5 and the Dublin City Final in May.

‘Lighting the Way’ was joined by 'Eyecatcher’ - made by Beth Brady, Amy McGillick and Aoife Brady with contact lens covers, car seat covers and curtains and modelled by Beth from St Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School, Navan, Co Meath - at one of EUROSPAR’s flagship stores in Dunboyne, to celebrate the renewal of their partnership.

Marketing Manager of EUROSPAR Claire O’Brien said: “At the heart of EUROSPAR is an unbreakable commitment to supporting local communities and responsible retailing. Junk Kouture have revolutionised how society views recycled goods and made sustainability exciting for younger people in Ireland, so we are proud to support them once again in this partnership. EUROSPAR Supereasy Supermarkets across Ireland are delighted to have the opportunity to support local schools on their Junk Kouture journey.”

CEO of Junk Kouture Troy Armour said: “We are delighted to have such a well-known and trusted brand like EUROSPAR on board for another year at Junk Kouture. We are so excited to extend Junk Kouture into primary schools with the support of EUROSPAR and their 52 locally-owned supermarkets in Ireland, and to have their support at our World Final next week.”
