Renovated bungalow in Midlands to feature on RTÉ's 'Home of the Year'
A couple's renovated bungalow in the Midlands will be featured on the RTÉ One series Home of the Year next week.
Rebecca and Eamonn McMackin live in the renovated 1950s bungalow in Offaly with their two young children.
RTÉ has now issued the first images of the Faithful County home, which will be shown on the programme next Tuesday evening (March 19) at 8.30pm.
The Home of the Year producers said that when Rebecca and Eamonn purchased their home it was "in need of a full renovation," but the couple could see it "had good vibes with lots of potential".
They left two original external sides of the house intact, and gutted the rest.
Their main goal was to create a large, light-filled functional kitchen, dining, living space to the rear of the property, so they extended it out the back.
The couple wanted to incorporate ocean blues, greens, and sand tones throughout the home to create a relaxing calming environment, which is near and dear to both, as Rebecca grew up in oceanside Nova Scotia, Canada, and Eamonn spent childhood summers in Donegal.
The popular Home of the Year show is now in its tenth series, with a total of 21 homes being featured this time around.
The judging panel assessing each of the homes consists of architect and founding partner of Douglas Wallace Consultants, Hugh Wallace, award-winning architect Amanda Bone, and award-winning interior designer Sara Cosgrove.
As with all of the homes featured in the series, the specific location of the McMackins' property in Offaly is not being disclosed by the show.
