Prof Neil Rowan - Outstanding Contribution to Research In TUS Award,

TUS honours Athlone researcher

Professor Neil Rowan has received a prestigious research award from Technological University of the Shannon.

Dr Don Faller, Dean of Faculty of Science and Health in TUS stated: “We would like to extend our heartfelt commendation to Professor Neil J Rowan who recently received the inaugural Research Week 'Outstanding Contribution to Research in TUS' award. For over three decades, Prof Rowan has been at the forefront of advancing applied microbiology to address complex societal challenges in medtech, food science, and the environment.”

Dr Liam Brown, VP for Research, Innovation and Developed in TUS remarked: “Neil has supervised 40 PhD students to completion and has published in 350 journals and conference papers, solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in his field. In December, Stanford University released its prestigious list of the 'World's Top 2% of Scientists' for 2023. Among the individuals recognised, Professor Neil Rowan stands out for his outstanding research activity and impact."

Prof Vincent Cunnane, President of TUS concluded: “Neil’s extraordinary achievements and unwavering dedication to advancing the frontiers of knowledge, have left an indelible mark on the Technological University of the Shannon community and beyond.”
