New Fine Gael leader pays tribute to Nicky McFadden on her tenth anniversary

Today (March 25) is the ten-year anniversary of the death of Athlone TD Nicky McFadden.

In a social media post, the new leader of Fine Gael, Simon Harris, acknowledged the anniversary and paid tribute to his party colleague who died after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

"Today, I am remembering the courageous Nicky McFadden on her tenth anniversary," wrote Mr Harris.

"Nicky was a friend, a colleague, and a committed public servant and she is as missed today as ever."

Nicky McFadden was a TD for Longford-Westmeath at the time of her passing, at the age of 51. The then-Taoiseach Enda Kenny delivered a graveside oration at her burial in Coosan cemetery.

Nicky's family and friends will be taking part in a fundraising walk in her memory this Saturday in order to raise money for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. See story HERE.
