RTÉ set to feature Athlone film on Good Friday

RTÉ 1 will air a short film on Good Friday with a distinct Athlone flavour on the People's Angelus at 6pm.

The segment, featuring members of the Knights of Columbanus in Athlone, centres on their pilgrimage walk to Clonmacnoise last year.

The clip, which was also screened several times last year, will show excerpts from charity walk which was undertaken by a group of over 50 people in April of 2023. The event raised over €5,000 for the LauraLynn Children's Hospice, and the charity features prominently in the short film.

For Christians of all denominations Good Friday is the most solemn day of the calendar year. It is when they remember the death on the cross of Jesus.

An estimated half a million viewers will see the Athlone segment on Friday.
