Westmeath Gardai urge retailers to be on lookout for fake €50 notes

Gardai in Westmeath have said they're aware of forged €50 notes circulating in the county, and have warned retailers to be on the lookout for them.

"It has come to the attention of Gardai in Westmeath that there has been a recent increase in the number of fake €50 notes in circulation," stated an online post from An Garda Síochána this week.

It went on to ask retailers "to be aware" of the possibility that they might come across the fraudulent currency.

"We would ask that all retail premises be aware of this during transactions, and to report any suspicious activity," it added.
