Local duo help Ireland women to big Six Nations win
Two local players were among the Irish Women's Rugby side to secure a significant win in the Six Nations yesterday (Saturday)
Beibhinn Parsons, from Ballinasloe, and Aoibheann Reilly, from Creagh, were part of the Irish side that ended a two-year wait for a Six Nations victory with a comprehensive defeat of Wales in Virgin Media Park in Cork on Saturday.
Ireland were 21-0 up at the interval, thanks to three first-half tries. Reilly had a significant role in the second try, with a key dummy during the build up, before Eve Higgins touched down.
Parsons was on the scoresheet with the final try of the win in the second half, after a trademark burst to complete a 36-5 victory.
It's a major boost for Ireland and head coach Scott Bernard.
