Farmers need 'urgent' help due to fodder shortage, says South Roscommon councillor

South Roscommon councillor Laurence Fallon has called for immediate action to be taken to assist farmers experiencing a fodder shortage due to ongoing wet weather.

"Many farmers are still unable to release their cattle from winter housing due to heavy rains and associated wet ground conditions.

"As a result, farmers are facing increased financial pressures as they require additional fodder for livestock," stated the Independent councillor.

"The Minister for Agriculture must carry out an immediate assessment to identify fodder shortages and farmers who are facing financial challenges.

"The current situation is unprecedented and farmers are now weeks behind their usual annual schedule.

"Support must be made available to these farmers now in order to acquire urgently-needed feed immediately," concluded Cllr Fallon.
