FAI gives update on new men's coach search

The FAI has admitted it is likely to be September before a new men's head coach will be in place for the Republic of Ireland team.

In an update on FAI TV today, Marc Canham, FAI Director of Football., said the aim is to have a permanent coach in place for the September UEFA Nations League game against England.

He said an interim coach would remain in place for the June friendlies and said the FAI hoped that would be John O'Shea.

The ongoing delay in finding a head coach, and the new timeline of September, means Ireland will have been without a permanent coach for ten months, following the decision not to renew Stephen Kenny's job in November.
