Drug awareness art competition

Transition Year students representing Colaiste Chiarain, Athlone, participated in an Art Competition before the Christmas break. Sponsored by the Athlone Drug Awareness Group, the function of the competition was to create awareness around the ongoing problem of drug abuse and in particular, the ease of access of these dangerous narcotics to young people.

Congratulations to Emma Murphy who was the overall winner of the Athlone Drug Awareness Group competition in Colaiste Chiarain, Athlone. Emma received her award of voucher for Athlone Town Centre on Wednesday, April 10, at the school. All the other participants who were shortlisted received a bag of goodies for their efforts. Well done to Emma and all the TY students who competed in the competition. A special word of thanks is extended to Mr. Frankie Keena (Chairperson of Athlone Drug Awareness who was ably assisted by Galina and Ms. Olivia Grogan (Art teacher at Colaiste Chiarain.
