Exhibition of photography and poems at Athlone Civic Centre

A solo exhibition by local poet and photographer Iain Ó Leochain is currently on display in the Atrium in Athlone Civic Centre.

The exhibition opened on Monday last and will continue until Friday, May 10.

The exhibition comprises 32 photographs with 32 accompanying poems. This bilingual exhibition will feature Irish poetry with English translations.

The exhibition is in memory of Cúán Ó’Lócháin, the High Poet of Ireland who was murdered a thousand years ago. On the 16th day of January 1024 Cúán Ua Lócháin murdered by people from La Tethfa, which is in modern day Co. Longford. This information was sourced from the annals of Lough Key.

The artist will be in the Atrium in Athlone to speak with members of the public on the last day of the exhibition on Friday, May 10 from 2pm – 4pm.
