Closing date this week for Irish Rail's 2024 apprenticeship programme

Iarnród Éireann, which was named Apprentice Employer of the Year in 2022, recently opened its 2024 apprentieship programme for applications.

But those who are interested will have to apply soon - as the closing date is this Thursday, May 9.

Irish Rail said the programme was "one of the most sought after in the country with apprentices trained to the highest possible technical standards in a safety-first environment."

It added: "We want young people with a drive for practical learning to apply to our programme as we continue to strengthen our future workforce to deliver Ireland’s sustainable rail network, expanding our electrified fleet and infrastructure.

"We are seeking ambitious female and male apprentices to join our team and grow with us across four trades:

* Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

* Apprentice Fitter

* Apprentice Electrician

* Apprentice (OEM) Original Equipment Manufacturing/ Engineering Technician.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age on or before September 1, 2024, and placements will commence in September.
