DPD in Athlone picks up 'green logistics' award at event in Dublin

DPD's Athlone facility was one of the winners at the Business & Finance ESG Awards held in Dublin recently.

The awards, in collaboration with Grant Thornton, celebrate the accomplishments of Irish businesses committed to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) excellence.

DPD in Athlone was named as the winner of the 'Green Logistics Excellence Award' at the event this year.

Stephen Tummon, Sustainabilty Programme Manager at DPD Ireland, collected the award on its behalf.

Congratulating each of the winners, Amanda Ward of Grant Thornton Ireland said: "The European Environment Agency most recent climate risk assessment highlights the major challenges we face as a society as a result of climate change.

"Today's winners embody the leadership and innovation required in order to deliver a better, greener tomorrow alongside a just transition.

"These champions of sustainability, highlight how the challenges we currently face can also be seen as an opportunity and will serve as an inspiration for others to follow in their footsteps."

The Business & Finance ESG Awards saw a surge in participation this year, with a record number of entries showcasing the growing commitment of Irish businesses to environmental, social and governance initiatives.
