Harney welcomes recent road works in South Roscommon

Work recently undertaken by Roscommon County Council on a sinkhole in the Drum area, along with other commitments for road maintenance and upgrade projects, has been welcomed by Sinn Féin candidate for the Athlone LEA in South Roscommon, Joe Harney.

Harney said: “I was delighted to see Roscommon County Council giving prompt attention to the cordoning off and repair of a sinkhole on the walkway between the Drum road and Summerhill roundabout following representations from myself and others.

“The council have also committed to addressing the relocation of 80km/h speed limit sign at Cornafulla NS - which will be addressed as soon as the road speed limit review is carried out – and the repainting of yellow and white lines on the R446 Road, in particular the lines between the Moore turn and Millars pub.

“Furthermore I warmly welcome the work that has commenced at the potentially dangerous traffic calming structure and speed limit signs situated on the west side of Westwood housing estate at Summerhill.

“These small projects are crucially important for the safety of motorists and pedestrians in the area and I thank Roscommon County Council for their co-operation and prompt action on these issues.”
