Shane Lynam (Irish Freedom Party), Moate
ADDRESS: Ballydoogan, Moate
PARTY: Irish Freedom Party
SPECIAL AREAS OF INTEREST: Tourism and Road Safety.
WHY ARE YOU RUNNING IN THIS ELECTION?
I felt that there was a disconnect between the main political parties and local communities and that local reps, however hardworking and diligent, are bound by their party policies on many issues we are currently facing.
I have the required skillset to be able to ensure fair representation for all voices. I have 17 years’ experience running my own business and I'm not afraid of hard work and long hours.
I want to see towns like Kilbeggan, Tyrrellspass, and Moate regain some of the vibrancy they once had.
I want to encourage young people to stay connected to their communities and offer them a view of a future where they can live and work in the communities they grew up in and not be forced to emigrate due to economic pressures, lack of housing, or opportunities for rewarding employment.
WHAT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST ISSUES IN YOUR AREA?
Building vacancy and dereliction, and a lack of available housing to buy or rent.
WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
Richard D Winters. He volunteered to help his country when needed and was admired for his courage and leadership.
