Dublin-based lecturer to deliver Old Athlone Society talk on Wednesday

The next Old Athlone Society talk will take place tomorrow evening, Wednesday, March 12, at 8pm in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.

The talk - 'Patrick McCartan: An Irish Envoy to the United States and Russia, 1917-1921' will be delivered by Dr Michael Doorley, a lecturer in modern history at the Dublin Business School.

The talk will examine the work of Dr Patrick McCartan (1878-1963) who was born in Carrickmore, County Tyrone, and who was to serve as Sinn Féin envoy to America and Bolshevik Russia during the Irish Revolution
