Lorcan Murray to open RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival today
Lorcan Murray will officially open the RTÉ All-Ireland Drama Festival today (May 8).
Lorcan presents Classic Drive 4-7pm weekdays on RTÉ lyric fm. It is one of the station’s flagship programmes with a daily audience of 60,000 dedicated listeners. Classic Drive is the perfect musical soundtrack to your journey home accompanied by news, sport and culture file, a daily guide to creativity in the world around us.
Lorcan regularly broadcasts from RTÉ studios around the country, highlighting the wealth and diversity of musical talent in Ireland.
Having left behind a career in electronic engineering, Lorcan opted for national radio and began broadcasting with 2FM in March 1988.
Over the last number of years he has become a household name through his approachable presentation style and discerning music choice.
As well as having anchored a range of programmes on 2FM and Radio 1, in 1999 Lorcan returned to his native Limerick to take up a position with RTÉ lyric fm to host its daily Lunchtime Show.
As well as presenting, Lorcan is an avid music collector and has one of the largest popular music collections in Ireland. He was also host of RTÉ Gold’s 'Living in the 70s' on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Lorcan sits on the Board of University Concert Hall, and is a former member of the steering committee for Music Generation Limerick.
During the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival, Lorcan will have live daily reports on the finalist plays, leading to the high drama of the Gala Awards night.
